John, "god of all things MTB" Tomac designed this series of tires and named it after a famed course in Italy where he romped on his competition. The raison d'etre of the tire is to ride well in the loose, the hard, and everything in between. The Kenda Nevegal UST Tire fulfills this mission completely. We find the Nevegal to be the best tire in wet, rooted, and rocky conditions. The 2.35" version uses Kenda's DTC (Dual Tread Compound). It has their Stick-E compound on the shoulders for excellent steep-lean traction. This is a super soft rubber that yields great grip, and the slow-rebound nature of this famed tree-sap solid acts as a suspension element. A harder, longer-wearing rubber is used down the center. The 2.1 " tires use the same firmer rubber compound over the entirety of the tread. This gives them a durability that cross-country/trail riders will appreciate. Using a fluid-based sealant product in any Kenda tire will void the warranty. The Kenda Nevegal UST tire is offered in 2.1" and 2.35" widths. Both sizes use a Kevlar bead for weight savings. 880g (2.1).Application: XC USTGround: All ConditionsTubeless 101: The Why and the How Explained.Product FeaturesHASH(0x643d1468)

So I've had this tire on for about 50 miles now, not a great distance but enough for me to form a strong initial opinion.First off my set up: Cannondale Super v 500SL, Fox vanilla rear shock, Fox Float 120 CTD fork, Sun AT-18 rims with shimano hubs (unsure of exact model), XT derailleurs and shifters. I'd say a middle of the road mountain bike, better than department store stuff but definitely nothing race worthy. Its a solid bike though and a present from my parents so I love it.I'm using this tire in a 26x2.35 size and running it in the front with a maxxis high roller II in the rear in the same size. The terrain I ride is typical Southern California hardpack, loose over hardpack (lots of gravel and sand), and some light mud. I typically ride 5-10 miles from my home to the trail head so time will tell how badly asphalt chews up the compound. The tire works wonderfully in loose terrain and I have a lot more confidence at high speed through gravel/sand than I did with my previous tires, the IRC Mythos XC. Cornering ability is great, the large side lugs really bite hard even in inherently dicey rock gardens and I find myself leaning further and taking turns 3-4mph faster than I did previously. The tire is also relatively quiet on the street if that is something that is important to you.Rolling resistance is increased over my old setup, the IRC Mythos XC, but that is to be expected due to the large size of the nevegal I am using plus the increased tread size. The Mythos XC had the typical low-profile tread found on XC tires which sacrifice grip for speed and decreased rolling resistance. For me I don't race and a fatter tire makes me work harder which in turn makes me not as fat. So win-win in my book.Looks; the tire looks cool with the big logos on the side and aggressive tread. I feel like some fancy sponsored rider instead of just some guy trying to work off the 5 beers and 4 slices of pizza he ate the night before. Great looking tire.Overall I am very satisfied with my purchase. I typically ride about 600 miles a year so I'm expecting about 1.5 to 2 years of service out of this tire. This is my first foray into higher-end mtb tires but I can say for certain I'm sold! Good tires on your bike make a huge difference so if you're looking for a nice ride with excellent grip the Kenda Nevegal should definitely be given some thought.Still the best in my book for close to 10 years now I think. I have tried them all. I ride hard pack, loose, rocks, roots, occasional sand, and very little mud (only when I can't avoid it). Climb great, confident fast turns and breaking (with lower pressures). As for cost... reasonable for this level of tire. For reference, I run 26x2.1 rear and 26x2.35 front, and terrains I ride throughout the year include north and central Texas, Santa Fe/Taos New Mexico, Vail area Colorado, and south Tahoe Nevada/California. Both front and rear tires are 5-10 pounds over minimum pressure. Yes, people complain they not fast on concrete, and it's reue... but then, THEY ARE NOT ROAD TIRES! Do you want an off road tires to grip off road, or on road. Can't have both successfully. :) Some complain about them being out of round. I've seen that, but it just means they aren't seated. Nevegal's are tight fitting tires, especially on beefier wheels. Use a little soapy water on the bead (tubeless or with tubes) when you put 'em on, and no more out of round every time!I read the reviews and they make some great remarks. One thing you have to take into account is the type of trail you are riding on. I am currently riding in the rocky/sandy desert of El Paso, so I was looking for a tire that had tall, widely spaces knobs. As a result, I thought the WTC Velociraptor would be a good choice. I was constantly getting flats due to the rockiness of the trail, not to mention the thorns and other things of the desert. A lot of the riders that rode past me as AI sat on the side of the trail changing my tubes RAVED about how great the tubless system was. So I decided to check into a tire that met my criteria. Now that I finally rode the Kenda Nevegal 26x2.35 tires and I actually had LESS rolling resistance. I was blazing through the trails! Even the sandy areas that would swollow up my Raptor tires, which were 26x2.1, these tires floated right over! Bottom line, I would HIGHLY recommend these tires to anyone riding in the same type of terrain I ride in. However, I would have to agree with the reviewers that complain about the rolling resistance if I was riding on a dirt trail. In which case I would probably recommend the Kenda Slant-6.These could be a big mistake if you ride a lot of road. I bought the dtc/utc version, lots of drag, and really heavy feeling. They feel like you're riding on two sawblades if you're on pavement. Needless to say, thats not what they are designed for. Offroad, they slay. Loads of traction climbing NE rooty rocky terrain, and a lot of confidence inspiring grip on the way down. They feel bulletproof. Also a breeze to setup tubeless with i23 rims, sealed right up with a snap using a floor pump. Great tire for the money. Not a tire for the weight weenies, but if stability and traction is your concern, check these out.Tires are great, huge improvement in the ride on my old beat up specialized stumpjumper. Lightweight and have taken some big hits but keep on going. Sticks in the corners and grips hard on climbs and descents. I have had them in deep sand, wet leaves, over rough rooty sections, rock gardens and hard pack and performance is there in all conditions. Only complaint is the high rolling resistance but hey you cant have good grip without sacrificing in other areas. This is a great downhill tire if you don't mind the weight or drag. Excellent if you live close to a bike park since you won't be pedaling up. I weigh 225lbs and ride aggressively so, for me having a hard, fat tire with lots of surface area is more important than the extra weight or drag that the tire may bring to the equation. It grips ok in a variety of surfaces from hard packed dirt to deep mud.Great value compared to Michelin's "wild gripper decent" and they are basically the same tire.
