I was looking for shoes for a hybrid bike (not road bike, not mountain bike… somewhere in between). My bike has standard pedals without cleats or cages. Regular running shoes were too flimsy and I was getting pain and burning in the balls of my feet. I wanted a shoe with the stiffness of a road bike shoe, but with a grippy sole that wouldn’t slip off the pedals. I also wanted to be able to walk around without taking the shoes off after getting off the bike. These shoes met all of my needs and surpassed them. I have wide feet, and the laces can be let out enough to give me room in the forefoot without hurting. I wear size 13 EE, and ordered size 13. They fit perfectly. They’re stiff enough to allow me to pedal without the shoe flexing, yet give a little to allow for comfortable walking (though I wouldn’t want to go for a hike in them). The grip on the sole keeps the shoes from slipping on the pedals, and even lets me pull a little, kind of like when using a cleat. These shoes are well made and well worth the price. I’m obviously very happy with them!I am just getting into mountain biking again after taking many years off post a major wipe out and injury. I bought a high end bike and helmet to help keep me upright. A friend that is an expert MTB rider recommended Five Ten to me of I was going without clips. While I think I want to clip in again someday, I am just not ready so I bought some big Raceface pedals with big pins and hoped this shoe would give me solid grip and support. I am about 100 miles in now and they really do work. I didn't realize Five Ten was Adidas MTB brand until I saw the box. Like most of my Adidas in the past, these shoes are outstanding. I never find my feet moving on the pedals unless I want them to. The rubber sole here is thick and sticky. It just grabs the pins and holds right where you plant down. These are an easy recommendation for any MTB rider at any level in my opinion. The fit perfectly though they look small. They aren't. Buy whatever you wear in an athletic shoe. If in between, size up.To start, these shoes are well put together. The materials don’t feel cheap, visible seams look like they will hold up well. I just received these so I don’t have any miles on them as of now, but I do have picky feet and wanted to share my thoughts. I have no doubt these will hold up against wear and tear. The rubber on the sole is TACKY which I do love coming from riding in regular Vans shoes. I tested them out on my DMR pedals and your feet aren’t going anywhere, so if you do like some play, these may not be your style. That being said, I have extremely long, flat, and narrow feet so I typically don’t have too many issues with shoes unless they do too much worry around the arches - typically I just have my own inserts in all my shoes. These are the perfect amount of comfort and performance that I’m looking for. They are very flat but ride high enough around the ankle to feel secure - they have great inner arch support so as to keep your ankles from rolling inwards but not too much where you feel like you’re pushed opposite to the outside of the shoe. Having a narrow foot, I can usually tell that if it’s snug, the shoe runs narrow - this is not the case, I do have some extra room side to side (not so much where it’s a problem, it’s actually comfortable) so my wide footed people, you should be just fine unless you already get special wide shoes, then it’s probably a toss up. Truthfully these ride like a beefed up skate shoe in terms of fit and feel, but are much stiffer, for obvious reasons. Not too stiff as to making some inevitable hiking with the bike miserable, I’m sure. All around, definitely worth the money! I went with the yellow because it saves $20+ and truthfully these things are going to be brown in a couple of rides anyways, so I’ll take my savings even though I really don’t like yellow. That being said, the style of it still looks badass even though I don’t like the color way, so I truly don’t thing you’ll be disappointed. All in all, these are WELL WORTH the extra you pay from some more basic model shoes (~$80 range like the Giros and RC shoes). Thrilled I spent more for the type of craftsmanship and attention to detail these shoes have. If you read my novel to this point, you’re heavily interested and I say just send ‘er bud! You won’t regret. These shoes will save your toes from bashing them against a rock. The grip is exceptional as well. Beats any old running shoe or a pair of Van’s by a long shot. These combined with good pedals give you all the grip on flat pedals you'd ever need. These are the best MTB shoes I've ever owned, I'd personally like them a tad wider (or available in a Wide size), but these are great every timeThese are my first pair of shoes for flat pedals - I've historically been an SPD guy. They seem to run a little small so I had to go up a half size. I to them on their maiden voyage today and there are super grippy with the pedals I bought. They also look sick and are very comfortable.Ordered these for a bike park trip. I normally use the five ten clipless shoes and crank brothers pedals, but wanted to try flats for the bike park. These paired to one up platform pedals were a great combo. Highly recommend.Grip as advertised. Feels solid and adds to my workouts. I am surprised but a great set of pedals made more difference than shoes. Invest in shoes but also good flat pedals. I seapped to RaceFace Atlas and they made a huge difference on rough trail. These are super comfy and have great stick on the floor but I’ve had these 2 months, admittedly wearing all day everyday, and the inner heel area is starting to fray. These are expensive and I wanted them to last over a year, but these may only last 6-9 months if the heel continues to fray. Nice looking and sturdy on the outside though.Superb shoes, excellent protection and surprisingly comfortable to walk in despite being designed for flat pedal riding.Great mtb shoes as expectedFit was as expected and the grip is pretty impressive. This is the first time after 20 years of being clipped in that I've used platform pedals and I still felt connected to the bike.I've been trying to find these shoes since last Nov and like all things bike related these days, inventory is scarce and I bit the bullet and paid the duty to ship to Canada. In the end, the price was pretty much on par with what I've seen listed and it's been totally worth it. These are the best rated flat pedal shoe on the market and so far they are meeting those expectations.
