I bought this unit on a small leap of faith given that there is not much information available about it quite yet. I am using it on my road bike with a GUB bar extender adapter and overall the fit and quality of the materials on this unit are first class.Pros:The head unit is extremely small and light weight and puts out a crazy amount of light for something of this size. I am wondering how I could also mount it on my boat for the times I have had to find my way back in the dark at night. Even on the lowest setting, this unit puts out a more than ample amount of light and on the highest setting it is like having the sun mounted on your bars. The light seems to be a nice white tone and I'm able to discern colors easily and it doesn't seem to be overly blue as many other lights i have seen. I think they did a very nice job with the optics, the beam width seems just right as a mix of both flood and spot types at once. I am able to see with perfect detail every element of the trail/road in front of me while at the same time seeing far enough ahead to not have to worry about out-running this light. I would definitely say the remote is a good thing as the head unit can get quite warm during operation and you will have to be quite aware of cars and pedestrians as this light will surely blind them plus in terms of safety I really like being able to put the remote where it is most convenient so that I don't have to remove my hands from the bars to change the light intensity while riding. Now I will be spoiled for that feature on all other lights I try quite frankly so I hope the trend catches on. Having the ability to also control the built in tail light via the remote is nice. The tail light is very very small but puts out a great amount of light also though in a very narrow field of focus. If driver or another cyclist is behind you they may even be a little blinded by it yet if they are coming at an angle they may not see it at all. So an enclosure redesign on the back light may address that issue in a future model. Additionally the rear light only operates at one brightness setting but four? modes. The included battery seems solidly constructed and does not seem overly large given its required capacity to power this little behemoth of a light. I do not have any data yet on how long it lasts as I have only had a chance to us it on a few short night rides where low power mode was more than sufficient. I just wish I could devise a way to make the cables about a foot longer so that I could run them cleanly and mount the battery as low as possible in my frame.Cons1. At this price point I would like to see a slightly stronger mount and maybe a quick release bolt on style mount like they use the Eagle models.2. I ride an XL frame, I found myself wishing that the included cables were a few inches longer for my application.3. The included adapter for powering both front and rear lights needs a bit more thought, the plugs should be 180 degree opposed instead of a solid Y adapter as one light goes forward and one light goes backward so there is no clean way to run the cables. Either one cable will have to bend 180 degrees or both will have to bend 90 degrees. Plus, the small velcro strap to secure the adapter to the frame should not attached to the cord coming from the battery but instead should be attached to the dual plug adapter as the way it is designed doesn't allow me to mount all the lights and cables in a semi permanent manner and just remove the battery for recharging as I would like. These reasons have me considering buying an aftermarket Y adapter cable that will give me the little bit of extra cable I need to make the installation clean and semi permanent.4. Online videos and other information seem to indicate that there was a mounting bar perhaps that was supposed to have come with the battery for attaching to the frame and maybe even the water cage bolts? If so mine definitely did not come with it. The only way I have to attach mine is the included velcro straps and again I think here if you really want to continue the trend of such an innovative product there could be some more thought given to leaving the lights, wiring, and remote installed on the bike while being able to quickly remove and replace the battery for recharging or even replacing if one were doing extended rides at night or supporting these lights on multiple bikes ( like when everyone in the family wants one of these mounted on their bars also ).5. The side of the front light needs to either commit to having a side discharge like the eagle eye lens they use on other models or blocking the light from leaking from the sides at all. The engineers seem to have gone half way in their attempts that sort of illuminates things to the sides but I fear the leaked light might be annoying to other cyclists riding next to me in a group. In its current design it seems to be at the same time a little too bright on the sides for other riders and too dim to be really usable, make up your mind and go with it on this one.6. I don't have any way to gauge battery voltage with this model that I see. A small color changing LED on the top of the light or built into the power switch on the front light to indicate remaining charge would be beneficial as currently you just have to guess at remaining voltage levels.7. A helmet mount doesn't seem to available for this model, it certainly is not included but could be8. I have seen a DC to USB adapter listed on Ebay for magicshine lights and it would be great to include one here as well so users could recharge their phones and other devices from these as well.So there is my honest opinion of the light. I'm enjoying it greatly and would surely recommend it to others. BTW if anyone is wondering I received nothing for this review. I bought the light at full price via Amazon and just wanted to submit these details in case it helps someone else who is considering this purchase.Due to my work schedule I tend to do most of my riding after the sun has gone down. I bring this light with me on every night ride and it is able to provide adequate safe lighting even on the lowest setting. I really like the little bluetooth remote too, it makes it really handy to control the lights while riding, as I ride with the main light hanging upside down so it doesn't mess with the light sensor on my bike computerI know when you are shopping for bike lights on Amazon, all of the reviews read "man, these lights are bright" for anything from the $10 cree lights all the way to the uber expensive brands. And honestly most of those reviews are true. Most any Cree light is bright, but what most reviews do not take into account is beam pattern. I've been a "cheap Amazon bike light guy" for years. I never saw the reason to spend the money on a more expensive light, until this year. You see, I lead a weekly mountain bike ride in the woods, and until this year the cheap lights were fine (until people started showing up with lights that were brighter behind me throwing crazy shadows). I decided this was the year I would buy some "good lights". I did my homework. This is what I found, and what I can compare. Most brands taught lumens. Magicshine does this also. The issue is lumens are based on a specific distance from the light over a specific area. You can set a beam pattern to that area and have two lights side by side with same LED, where one looks like a spot light, the other a flood, and the spot will have more "lumens" as the intensity in that area is higher. With this stated, the cheap $10 single cree LED lights you can buy tend to be more of a spot, and will throw the light down the trail, but in a tight pattern (i.e. spot). Where these 906 magicshine's differ, is that they are more a flood, and they throw the same intensity light the same distance or farther than the spot light buy in all directions. It is truly amazing to compare these lights side by side. I have always told people, ideally it's best to have two lights, a flood on the handle bar, and a spot on your helmet. This was because the floods really could not throw the light as far as the spot. I did buy two of these MS 906s, but if you are looking for a single light, this one is all you really need.So how did I end up selecting magic shine? I know they are a good brand, but are known to be economical. I also did some googling and found charts of beam patterns vs light intensity. That's what we should all be looking at, not just lumens. It looked to me, these 906's were the best for the money based on total light output and pattern. So I bought one, and figured, if it was nice after I compared to my cheap light, I'd buy a second for my helmet. Yeah. The second purchase was within a week of receiving the first. All I can say is I run these at 50%, and feel like I'm riding in the day time. They are truly amazing. Also the push button that can be programmed to both lights, on the handle bars is also money. No more fumbling to turn on both lights. One button and done. Also, you can buy two of these for the price of one Nightrider, or other "high end brand".If your on the fence, buy this light, you will not be disappointed. I will also add that testing I found online showed these lights to produce around 3000 real lumens. You can't get close to that for this money, even know MS overstates the lumens. Finally, I actually bought these lights, and was not given them for free for review from Magicshine. This is just a happy customer giving a "glowing" review.the light is great and very bright... the battery lasts and it even can be powered from my e bike battery if the battery for the light does diewhich makes it perfect
